In April 2004, we travelled to Vietnam & Laos for three weeks. In Vietnam, we started in Hanoi, then took the train to the northwest mountains to the mountain town of Sapa. From Sapa, we trekked through villages and rice paddies for two days. After returning to Hanoi, we took a boat trip around Halong Bay, which is in the Gulf of Tonkin.

In Laos, we started in Luang Prabang, which is a lazy, beautiful town with many Buddhist temples/monasteries. Then we stopped in Vang Vieng and scrambled on some limestone formations. Finally, we stayed a night in Vientiane, the capital of Laos.
