Like most great heros, Aslan's precise origins are not well known. Although some historians maintain that Aslan herded sheep in the Pyrenees mountains, the majority view is that he was placed in a shelter when his Puget Sound owners were not responsible.

In September 2004, we discovered Aslan through the Puget Sound Great Pyrenees Rescue Association, that finds homes for dogs who have had unlucky pasts. (In fact, Aslan is our own name for him, for we don't know what he was called in the past.)

NEWS: A Great Pyrenees won 1st place in the Working Group at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show on Feb. 15, 2005. Click here to read all about it. Despite the industriousness of his Working Group pyrs, we have never seen Aslan work or show any inclination toward occupations which do not lead to his direct gratification.
